(anger? blushing? both?) maybe she was just talking about how he tried to escape while she'd been cutting into him at her leisure, but his mind automatically jumps to the time before that. it didn't make any sense — didn't he make her feel wanted that time? or at least, feel something all — but he doesn't spend much time thinking about it. there's no room for reflection when he's all anger and struggle.

why was he struggling, anyway? it didn't matter. he couldn't stop anything from happening to the girl. not unless he sacrificed some part of himself. (again.) and even then ... that was only a maybe. he was smarter than that. not always, but he can see the puzzle pieces in front of him shifting this time.
