[ Arthur, for all that he likes rules and regulations, didn't settle well into the New Republic's fleet. There was too much hemming and hawing on where the fleet got to go, that they were in peace time so why would they mobilize, and shouldn't they be diverting money elsewhere? The petty politics left a bad taste in his mouth and when the wind started blowing in the direction of a real threat out there in the name of the First Order, he left.
Went straight into the arms of the Resistance, famously headed up by General Organa herself. Of course, there were other famous names and faces– Poe Dameron, for one. Ace pilot extraordinaire, bit of a reckless streak, but he'd gotten in and out of so many tight spots it was hard to ignore. His elation in the cockpit and out of it was just as much of a driving force as Organa's reputation (ok maybe not, but it was pretty infectious).
So of course, Arthur was partnered up with him as of late. A nerve-wracking thing, being the wingman to someone like Poe, but his level head helped temper out some of the reckless behavior (or that was the idea). They still had some work to do, but things seemed to be looking up for their fledgling pilot partnership. There was still plenty of arguing over decisions, but that wasn't what bothered him. He could take arguments, he could take yelling and discussions and pure bullheadedness.
No, what he couldn't handle was the fact that Poe was an alpha and just exuded it from every single strand of hair. Arthur prided himself on his self control, but some things were just too much.
Which is why when they land from their practice run, he's out of the cockpit and already trying to make a beeline for the exit of the hangar, unwilling to have any closeness between himself and Poe. It was a deadly and trying combo, the adrenaline from a successful flight mixed with the barely restrained and damnable omega desires.
Just hopefully, his swift walk away doesn't look too much like running. ]
